What this room didn’t ask for

What this room didn’t ask for

I didn’t ask to be here. I plain and simple had to get away from a man.

What I did get is a room that, besides seeing me cry a lot and try to maintain my entire closet in its proximal space, saw:

 my friends shorthaired dachshund throw up on the carpet the night she traveled here after she needed a place to escape to too. She also didn’t ask for it. {the dog is doing fine}

It’s seen me sneak boys into a house. Those I did kinda want.

there’s been giggles and new artwork. Caroline’s friend from elementary school grew up in this house. I wonder if the walls recognized her or her laugh.

I didn’t ask for it, but I did get a new friend that moved here the same time I did. We had a perfect day today that left me grateful. This room saw me come in with joy for the first time in a while and kick ass at laundry and then at my desk that I arranged for myself finally.

i didn’t ask to be here for four months. Definitely not six.

will these walls see me move? They’ve seen me waste hours on my phone, explore curiosities, and sleep in late some days.

If these walls could talk would they believe in me?

think They’d say

“I don’t know because you haven’t  asked me.”
